What are the requirements for OMV install? ›

The system requirements for installing OpenMediaVault are a 64-bit processor, at least 2GB of RAM, and a minimum of 2GB of storage space. It is recommended to have a dedicated system for OpenMediaVault, but it can also be installed on an existing system running Debian or Ubuntu.

The default username and password for Filebrowser are both "admin".

The default administrator account username and password are both "admin".

I just migrated from unraid to omv and it went surprisingly easy. I decided to install the v7 as I felt I didn't want to invest in an outgoing version. In general I had no issues with stability except some 500 errors after tasks are done, but nothing breaking.

OMV is based on the Debian operating system, and is licensed through the GNU General Public License v3.

openmediavault can be installed on an USB flash drive to boot from it. Follow the Install on Dedicated Drive and select your USB flash drive as target drive. Enable the openmediavault-flashmemory plugin. This lowers the amount of writes to the USB flash drive, making sure you can enjoy it for a long time.

By default OMV uses 443 (IF HTTPS is enabled) and then Port 80.

Vault provides a few ways to log in: User Login: This is the standard login. The first time you log in, you'll enter your user name, for example, tibanez@veepharm.com, and your password.

OpenMediaVault supports the Linux default filesystems Ext3/4, JFS, and XFS. You can close the dialog with OK; writing the filesystems takes some time.

Use strong passwords, limit your exposure to the outside by not deploying services you don't need or understand, and keep your file permissions tight. In other words, OMV is as secure as anything else and only as secure as you make it.

The default web interface login credential is admin:openmediavault , the root password is the one you setup during installation.

Minimum Hardware requirements

Openmediavault/Debian will run on I386, AMD64, and select ARM platforms with 1GB of ram or less, but performance expectations should be adjusted accordingly. The system boot drive should have a minimum of 8GB capacity.

Unlike most OpenShift installers, the assisted installer requires a minimum of 3 nodes and doesn't require an auxiliary bootstrap node. Instead, the Assisted Installer will pivot the bootstrap to become a master node once the control plane is running on 2 other master nodes.

RVM supports most UNIX like systems and Windows (with Cygwin or Bash on Ubuntu on Windows). The basic requirements are bash , curl , gpg2 and overall GNU version of tools - but RVM tries to autodetect it and install anything that is needed.
